Created to give young female drivers a real place in motorsport, F1 Academy is more than a championship: it's a quiet revolution.
What is F1 Academy?
Launched in 2023 by Suzie Wolff, the FIA and Formula One Management, F1 Academy is a 100% female single-seater series of F4 type. It welcomes drivers aged 16 to 25 from around the world, offering them a professional, supported, funded, and above all visible championship.
Each season, five teams (Prema, ART, MP Motorsport, Campos, Rodin) field three cars each, all identical:
- Engine: Autotune T421
- Lightweight and secure chassis
- Pirelli tires
- Performance close to international F4
The goal is not raw speed, but comprehensive training: driving, communication, pressure management, and media experience.
Top 3 championship 2024
For decades, women have been excluded from professional circuits for lack of talent, but due to lack of adapted structures and financial support.
F1 Academy breaks this cycle:
- It guarantees accessible budgets
- Provides access to top-level engineers
- Offers unprecedented media exposure
- Creates direct partnership with Formula 1
In 2024, the series gets closer to F1: each Formula 1 team now supports its own F1 Academy driver, with single-seaters in the official team colors.
Result: women are now an integral part of the paddock.
